All requests for postponements or excusals due to hardship, must be made by the individual who received the summons prior to the date of service and directly with the Commissioner of Jurors. Be prepared to provide documented proof in relation to your request, if asked to do so. This may include a doctor’s excuse, a statement from an employer, tax return, or in some cases, a spouse or family member may have to provide a copy of an individual’s death certificate in the event a deceased person has received a summons.
