LENGTH OF SERVICE

You are summoned to serve for one day/one trial. The average length of a jury trial in a criminal case is 2 - 3 days, in a civil case 3 - 5 days. If not selected, jurors will be released from jury service as soon as a jury is selected and sworn, usually on the first day.

Grand Jury Terms run for a 3-month period, with sessions about 2 - 3 times each month, usually on Thursday, subject to change. Grand Jurors may be excused for a session, with approval, but are  required to call the Commissioner of Jurors Office to find out the date of the following session.

After completion of jury service,  your name will be removed for a 6-year period.
