You
are summoned to serve for one day/one trial. The average length of a jury
trial in a criminal case is 2 - 3 days, in a civil case 3 - 5 days. If not
selected, jurors will be released from jury service as soon as a jury is
selected and sworn, usually on the first day. Grand
Jury Terms run for a 3-month period, with sessions about 2 - 3 times each month,
usually on Thursday, subject to change. Grand Jurors may be excused for a
session, with approval, but are
required to call the Commissioner of Jurors Office to find out the date of the following session.
