Petit Jury
Petit (trial) jury is the most common type of jury service. A trial jury consists of citizens brought together to listen to evidence presented by both the prosecution and defense in the matter of a criminal proceeding and the plaintiff and defendant in a civil trial.

If you have been summoned for a petit jury term you are to be available for the term date listed on your summons. If a questionnaire is included with your summons you are required by law to complete and return it within 5 days. If you have not requested to be postponed or excused you are to call 1-800-449-2819 any time after 6:00 PM of the last workday before you are to appear and listen for your Juror ID#. A recorded message will be on over the weekend, holidays and up to 8:00 AM of the scheduled appearance date. If your service is needed, you are to report at 9:00 AM to the Jury Assembly Room located on the ground floor of 25 Delaware Avenue, corner of Church Street. You may also enter by the Old Courthouse,
92 Franklin Street.

The recorded message will give further instructions or changes regarding your service. Please listen carefully. Jurors are required to be on call for one week. If needed, jurors serve for the length of one trial. You must call the recorded message, as you will not be paid for any appearance if the message directs you not to appear.
