General Information
The Commissioner of Jurors is responsible for providing State Supreme, Erie County, Surrogate and the various city, town and village courts within Erie County qualified prospective jurors and the management of a variety of functions related to discharging this responsibility. The duties include the qualifying of citizens for service, summoning jurors, maintenance of juror service records and the operation of the juror assembly room. In addition the Commissioner of Jurors provides for the impaneling of two Grand Jury panels for each of the 13 terms of court as well as special panels, as needed, for New York State Attorney General investigations. Informational juror handbooks are available at local library branches and are given to each juror upon reporting to service.

Jurors are to be available from 9AM to 5PM, Monday thru Friday. Entry to the courthouse begins at 8:30AM at both the 92 Franklin St. and 25 Delaware Ave. entrances. Weapons of any kind and all sharp or dangerous instruments are prohibited in the court building. Jurors are not exempt from metal detection screening and your cooperation and patience is appreciated.

Proper dress is required. No shorts, cutoffs, tank tops or halter tops.
Free parking is not available. Numerous lots are within walking distance. For Metro Bus and Rail schedules call 855-7211. If a sudden illness or emergency on the day you are to report occurs please call our office at 845-2555; 849-0575 TTY (Hearing Impaired) beginning at 8AM. Court closings due to weather are announced on local radio and TV stations.
