REQUESTS FOR POSTPONEMENT:
If the date you are summoned to report is inconvenient, the law allows you one postponement to an available jury term of your choice within six (6) months.  Contact the Commissioner of Jurors’ Office at (716) 938-9111 Ext. 2383 or 2326 within 5 days of receipt of your summons to request a postponement.  If you have already been postponed from jury service before, you must request a second or subsequent postponement in writing, indicating the reason for the request.

EXCUSALS:   There are no longer any automatic exemptions.  However, there are reasons that a person may be excused from serving.  The following is a general list:                           

1.) You have a medical condition which would prevent you from serving.  A statement from a physician is required.  Call our office for an information sheet on the documentation required)

2.) You do not have transportation or access to public transportation to attend jury service. (A statement signed by juror is required.  Call our office for a form which needs to be completed and returned by juror).

3.) You are a care giver for someone who lives with you and has no one else to take care of them (A statement from a physician is required.  Call our office for an information sheet regarding the documentation required).

4).  You do not communicate or understand the English language.  You need to contact us to discuss this.

5).  You are a member of the Clergy (documentation required).

6).  You have served as a juror within the last four (4) years in a court of jurisdiction.

7).   You are not a citizen of the United States. (A copy of your alien registration card or Visa is required).

8).  You are a non-resident of this County. (Proof of residence required).

9).  You have been convicted of a Felony.
